April Love educated herself at New York Academy for Hair Color (New York, NY) and Marinello Schools of Beauty in (Los Angeles, CA). Then she moved to London to pursue further education and graduated from Jingles International Hairdressing Academy (London, England). After her graduation, she was honored to instruct classes in the art of hair extensions at the school and educational seminars. Her expert "Hair Weaving" techniques became most popular among Europeans in the early 80's and continues to thieve on her popular styles today. She has added to the Institutions' famous quote, "Take what you know and make it grow" ("her version") "When you can't achieve it, you must weave it!".
April Love has mastered the art of hair braiding for over 30 years including; individual braids, natural, dipped or heart-fused ends. Feather braiding, brick laying technique, curving braids, mini-micro braiding, various layered, basket weave braids, cross corn rolls, human hair twist and silly braids.
April Love successfully owns and operates Looks of Love Hair Salon in Los Angeles for over 15 years. Her cliental includes famous celebrities such as Bone Thugs 'N Harmony, Bow Wow, Chanté Moore, Earth Wind & Fire, Ludacris, Mario, Sisqó, and the late Aaliyah, just to name a few. Serving these artists allows her to utilize her expert creative hair styling techniques during the artist's world-wide tours, photo shoots, video performances, television appearances, and various awards ceremonies, includes American Music Awards, Life Time TV, MTV, BET, ABC and NBC (hair stylist on site) and more. Looks of Love is glad to present our new Make-Up Artist and Hair Designer – Mr. Andre’ Maurice. Focusing on excellence, both classy and trendy, Mr. Maurice knows the ins and out of the make-up and beauty industry, and thus, gives each client that personal quintessential Hollywood experience.
Coming from the hair capital of the world, Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Maurice has worked in and out of California as a make-up artist and hair stylist in the entertainment industry for nearly twenty years. He has worked with well-known singers and actors such as the late Aaliyah; Glen Plummer; an America’s Top Model winner, Niema; Grammy Award winners, The Clark Sisters; the Detroit Pistons Cheerleaders; and for the Barry Gordy Family (Motown) as make-up artist for their personal and public events.
In addition, Mr. Maurice has worked alongside well-known celebrity make-up artists such as Scott Barnes at the 2005 Fash Bash and with Rogelio Reyna of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics at the 2006 Fash Bash. For two decades, Mr. Maurice has been a hair stylist and make-up artist for celebrities, as well as owner of his own hair salons in Michigan. Moreover, he has been a Make-Up Consultant for well-known cosmetic companies such as Lancome, Benefit Cosmetics, and currently represents Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.
Mr. Andre’ Maurice is well-educated in his craft; he’s a licensed cosmetologist in two states. He continues his professional development attending and/or presenting at beauty seminars and conferences. That’s why he is on the cutting edge of all areas of make-up and haircare. Not only is he attentive and creative with his make-up artistry and hair designing, but he is also committed to healthy hair and skin. Thus, one can trust that when he works with a client, he is offering that person a quality beauty consultation that one can feel good about both inside and out.
Mr. Andre’ Maurice’s expertise lie in make-overs for gala events, as well as specialized styles, i.e. horror themes. He has worked on movie sets, theatre productions, fashion and runway shows, and music video shoots. Recently, he was the Key Make-Up Artist for the soon-to-be-released film, Teeth And Blood (2012).
